Doug Jones warned town hall audience not to listen to Trump about coronavirus

U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) recently told Alabamians not to “listen to the politicians” regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, before specifically referring to President Donald J. Trump.

A video posted recently to YouTube and just discovered by Yellowhammer News captured a short portion of an event that Jones attended with the likes of U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA).

The “Women for One Alabama” event was held on March 8 at Miles College in Fairfield and was organized by Jones’ reelection campaign.

“I told a town hall group yesterday — and I’m not trying to be political when I say this, even though you’ll take it that way, I know — don’t listen to the politicians talking about this,” Jones said. “I mean really, it doesn’t matter who it is — unless they are telling you something that has been repeated by the CDC or doctors or your public health officials, don’t listen to it. Do not listen to the president telling everybody that they can get tested, because we don’t have enough tests right now. We’re working on it.”

Jones in recent days has embraced the notion that President Trump suggested people inject themselves with disinfectant as a treatment for coronavirus. Trump has said that he was being sarcastic and speaking about the potential of UV light to kill the virus.
