Doug Jones rails against ‘crazy Alabama’ in livestreamed rant

On Friday, former U.S. Senator Doug Jones went live on social media platform X with a lengthy rant to his social media page primarily against Republican voters and the elected officials they choose.

Jones kicked off his comments by attacking Chief Justice Parker for quoting scripture in his opinion regarding IVF. “First and foremost, we see another decision coming out the Alabama supreme court that basically says frozen embryos in a test tube are given the same rights as children.” Jones said.

“As a result of that unbelievable decision, and a concurring opinion by a Chief Justice who is a protégé of Roy Moore, who quotes the bible more than he does the law, all of the sudden now 3 of the 6 IVF clinics have paused all work.”

Chairman of the Alabama Senate’s Healthcare committee Tim Melson (R-Florence) is expected to file a bill this week clarifying that embryos created through IVF are not considered a human life until the fertilized egg is implanted into a woman’s uterus, putting IVF clinics in Alabama at ease to continue their treatment.

Jones went on to say that this decision will carry over into other states and that the Alabama Supreme Court’s ruling is exactly what “far-right MAGA activists” want.

Former President Donald Trump released a statement after the Supreme Courts ruling calling on the Alabama Legislature to protect IVF treatment.

“We want to make it easier for mothers and fathers to have babies, not harder! That includes supporting the availability of fertility treatments like IVF in every state of America.” Said Trump in a Truth Social post.

“Today, I am calling on the Alabama Legislature to act quickly to find an immediate solution to preserve the availability of IVF in Alabama. The Republican Party should always be on the side of the Miracle of Life – and the side of Mothers, Fathers, and their Beautiful Babies. IVF is an important part of that, and our Great Republican Party will always be with you, in your quest, for the ULTIMATE JOY IN LIFE!”

Jones labeled U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) as “chair of the pro-Putin caucus” for his recent statements regarding the war in Ukraine at CPAC.

Tuberville was affirming his stance that he will not vote to send any money to Ukraine over ongoing crises America faces at home and the country’s inability to define clear capability after continual taxpayer investment.

Jones encouraged his supporters to “cause some good trouble” in protest of “MAGA forces’” saying they should “learn from history” and “learn what happened back in Europe in the 1930s.”

“We’ve got to put these folks in their place.” said Jones.

“This is serious. This is something that is incredibly serious and it’s something we all have to do.”

Jones concluded his live stream with an endorsement of President Biden.
