U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) is not planning on attending a town hall event that’s scheduled in Athens on March 22nd.
Sean Phillips, the organizer of the event, said he has invited Strong. He also said he’s willing to put an empty chair in Strong’s place if the congressman decides to decline the invitation.
Strong believes the town hall is not really about addressing constituents honest concerns, but is being set up by a leftist group who already doesn’t like him or President Donald Trump.
“There’s been no communication. You know this right here is orchestrated,” Strong argued Monday on WVNN. “Indivisible is a group that’s headed by George Soros. It’s left wing liberals. You look at it, they’re mad because Kamala and Joe lost. They’re mad because Trump won, and they’re mad because they’re getting exposed with all the waste, fraud and abuse is going on this country, and that’s why we’ve got a $36 trillion debt.”
The event is being put together by progressive political organization Indivisible, and the event was posted on their Facebook Page. According to Indivisible’s website, they’re a group that believes “Our democracy is under threat. But we will not yield to fascism. We will stand together and we’ll fight back in defense of our rights, our communities, and our values.”
Strong said he believes the majority of his constituents are on his side.
The people of the Fifth Congressional District, six counties, three quarters of a million people, I think they appreciate how we do business,” Strong said. “We have monthly newsletters. We’ve had more than 1,500 meetings, visits, events. These telephone town halls, we’ve reached over 35,000 people with that. We’ve had 30 mobile office hours where we’re going out into some of the more rural areas of the district. And just to be honest, we I think people understand what we’re trying to do. We’re trying to represent the people. We’re trying to protect this district, and we’re trying to be sure our jobs, and people know the capabilities of North Alabama.”

The congressman also defended the actions of Elon Musk on his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“They might not like how Elon communicates, but let me tell you something, whenever you see this many trillions of dollars worth of waste, this is how we save Americans,” he explained. “So I tip my hat to him.”
Strong said the recent actions of the Trump administration are putting North Alabama in a good economic position for the future.
“I’ve been engaged with the President, with the Vice President,” he said. “You look, they understand the capabilities we’ve got here from Marshall Space Flight Center, SLS. You start looking at Space Command. You start looking at Iron Dome, which is going to be the golden dome. Get ready. Our economy is fixing to thrive. And I promise you, the capabilities that we’ve got here at Marshall they understand what we’re doing here, and this is the best place to do it. We got the right people at the right place at the right time.”
