U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) thinks members of the U.S. Senate should give all of Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees a chance, including the President-elect’s choice for Attorney General.
Trump announced Wednesday that he’s nominating U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) to be the U.S. Attorney General, causing some backlash in Washington. Gaetz resigned from the House after the announcement.
“I know one thing, Trump said it’s not going to be business as usual,” Strong said Thursday on WVNN. “We’re going to get people that are willing to work the long hours, the long weeks, and Matt could do that.”
The Congressman admitted that some Republicans might be reluctant to confirm Gaetz — but also said he deserves the chance to go through the process.
“I know there’s a little cloud out there that they’ve got to first,” he argued, “but hey, let’s evaluate it, let him have a chance. You look at who Biden got to pick with his administration with few, if any, pushback. Let Donald Trump put his staff together and let’s bring America back.”
Strong said he believes Gaetz could definitely do a better job than the current Attorney General.
“Look at what Merrick Garland has done to this country,” he exclaimed. “I’ll promise you, I’ll take Matt Gaetz any day of the week.”
