Alabama may be more likely than not to reach College Football Playoff

The Alabama Crimson Tide headed into the final week of the regular season with seemingly no chance of making the College Football Playoff coming off a dominating 24-3 loss on the road against Oklahoma.

After an absolutely wild weekend of college football, the Tide now sit with a fairly good chance to make the expanded 12-team field, and Vegas odds indicate they may even be more likely than not to play in the postseason:

As long as Alabama is ranked ahead of both Miami and South Carolina on Tuesday night when the playoff rankings are revealed, they are in pretty good shape. Miami’s loss to Syracuse has all but knocked the Hurricanes out of the field. While Clemson is on the brink after a third loss this weekend, Miami’s loss allowed them into the ACC title game.

If Clemson defeats SMU, it’s going to become more difficult for Alabama given that Clemson would secure and automatic bid and SMU seems likely to hold onto their spot as well given odds around -300 going into the weekend.

The -104 that Alabama sees is a razor thin margin that can go either way, but essentially is saying that the Tide have a 51 percent chance to make it as things look now.
