The Alabama Free Market Alliance (AFMA), a conservative advocacy group headed by Alabama’s Republican National Committeeman Paul Reynolds, released a television ad this week that is now airing statewide. However, rather than focusing on a particular race, as most ads are doing this close to election day, the AFMA ad is reminding Alabama voters about Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations that threaten to spike electricity rates and kill jobs in the state and around the country.

“Our group has three focus areas,” Reynolds told Yellowhammer. “First, we fight over-reaching government regulations. Second, we promote pro-growth tax reform. And third, we advocate for a true all-of-the-above energy policy. This issue really hits on all three of our focus areas. The latest round of EPA mandates is trying to regulate parts of the Alabama economy’s energy sector to death — literally. They want to kill coal jobs. They’re doing it through a backdoor tax on the people of Alabama that we will pay in the form of higher energy bills. And again, this is all focused on the coal industry, which this Administration has targeted because they don’t fit into the President’s trumped up global warming agenda.”
Reynolds said that his group felt it was important to remind voters that there’s more than just candidate’s names on the ballot this cycle.
“This election is about ideas,” said Reynolds. “The President said it himself last month when he said, ‘I am not on the ballot this fall, but my policies are.’ Well, his energy policies are having a profoundly negative effect on every single Alabamian who owns a small business or has an electricity bill. Those costs are going up and you’ve got Obama to thank for that. That’s what our ad is about. It’s a reminder that Alabamians need to go to the polls and elect conservatives who are going to stand up to this insanity.”

Under my plan, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.Narrator:
Obama’s plan, our problem.Radical environmentalists allied with Barack Obama are targeting Alabama. First they took aim at our jobs. Now they’ve devised crushing new regulations to drive electricity bills through the roof. Environmentalists call it a rule, but voters call it a tax — the energy tax.
Obama’s plan, our problem.
