VirtuOwl, a Birmingham-based online tutoring company, has received an additional round of investment from Birmingham’s Concert IDC Inc Tank to help make its platforms more available.
The platforms help locate, book, and engage students and their parents with private tutors.
“We think VirtuOwl is the ideal way to close the gaps in today’s online education,” said Inc Tank President Brandon Barker. Concert IDC is a technology incubator that takes raw ideas and turns them into products and services.
Barker said the platform provides a secure way for students to connect remotely to the help they need and provides an additional source of income for teachers.
The VirtuOwl system is built on a platform designed for secure use as a telemedicine videoconferencing program. The recent focus of the company has been to assist students in regaining or catching up on learning that was lost or delayed from the COVID pandemic.
“This is a solution we think can be a real difference-maker for students and teachers in Alabama and throughout the United States,” said VirtuOwl General Manager Bo Morgan.
VirtuOwl also has a user-friendly design, including an easy booking process and geofencing to help locate tutors and education options.
