‘Christmas isn’t canceled’: Birmingham to present virtual ’12 Days of Christmas’

While the City of Birmingham’s traditional Christmas parade will not be held this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, celebrations of the holiday will still proceed this season.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin shared a video announcement on Friday morning declaring that the City will present a “12 Days of Christmas” video series starting on Sunday, December 13.

“I’m here to tell you: Christmas isn’t canceled here in our city,” Woodfin said. “We’re going to safely celebrate with all of you.”

The video then shows Woodfin flipping the giant switch to light the Christmas tree in front of City Hall.

He advised that the coming video series “will definitely bring some Christmas cheer to your lives.”

“[The videos] will feature the sights and sounds of the holidays in our community,” Woodfin added. “Some good music, familiar faces and other surprises.”

The mayor encouraged anyone interested to look for the Christmas videos daily on the City of Birmingham’s social media channels.

“Have a happy and safe holiday season, everybody. And remember to keep it merry and bright,” he concluded.
