Cavanaugh: Trump won GOP debate just like he’ll win for America’s energy future

Alabama was the perfect place for the fourth Republican presidential debate. It is fitting that our state was chosen to host a talk about the future of America’s values because when you look at failed states like California and New York, “values” is the last thing that comes to mind.

I’ve been outspoken in supporting President Trump’s campaign to take back the White House in 2024. Our country didn’t even need a full year of Democrats in charge to start feeling the consequences of their broken ideas – much less four.

But despite Joe Biden’s weakness and frailty, his ideas about the future of American energy are hazardous.

Green New Deal? Democrats make it sound like a dream. If they got their way, it’d be a nightmare.

Liberals want to spend trillions of dollars on a fantasy plan that will wind up draining more money from our wallets as we pay more for everything, from the electricity in our homes to the fuel in our cars and the food on our tables.

Jobs? Forget about it.

Washington liberals mean what they say when they talk about their goal of America becoming 100% renewable energy dependent. Sounds nice. But what about the millions of jobs in the oil, gas, and coal industries? Including the hundreds of thousands in Alabama?

What happens to those jobs? Climate activists John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden don’t have an answer.

In Donald Trump’s four years in office, America was primed to be the world’s number one energy producer, which would mean strength and security for us at home. That’s energy independence. That’s putting America First.

So much is at stake in 2024 because the things we all want can only be accomplished through innovation – not regulation. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again.

Speaking of regulation, another nightmare in the White House we’re ready to wake up from is Kamala Harris, who’s only a heartbeat away from being our commander and chief.

The hypocrisy we’ve come to expect from liberals like her in the past four years is too obvious. They want to ban the gas stoves we use to cook Christmas dinner for “environmental” reasons before they even consider what’s in their kitchen.

They can say it’s about health, the environment, or some bright future – but let’s be honest: Democrats want to take away our choices and control our lives.

It was an honor to see Alabama host an official presidential debate. I heard a lot of talk about the success of Donald Trump’s agenda from candidates who aren’t Donald Trump. Let’s keep Alabama’s values center stage in America and let him keep running the playbook.
