Cavanaugh: Liberal energy policy bad for America

The agencies that layer the federal government are out of control. They seek to control every aspect of your life and dictate their own twisted sense of morality from their bubble in Washington, D.C.

What’s worse is their solutions aren’t solutions at all. They want to completely destroy the fossil fuel industry in the United States all in the name of climate change.

How are American families served by an incoherent plan to stop using our God-given resources, but yet we see our “leaders” fly around the world and beg dictators to produce more oil?

The incompetent energy policy we are currently operating under has made America weaker, it’s strengthened our enemies, and it’s drained the pocketbooks of the citizens they’re obligated to protect.

The Biden administration has reduced our supply of oil, thereby driving up the cost per barrel, and the end result is the costs of everyday goods and services have massively increased.

It’s clear to most people – the goal is to distract everyday Americans by instilling fear in us that allows them to control more and more of our daily lives.

“Gas stoves are destroying the environment! We’re going to ban them.” But, then they fly around the world in private jets that emit much more CO2 than your gas stove.

They claim CO2 is going to be the death of us all, and make no effort to change their lifestyle.

Why? Because they know it’s a farce. They don’t even believe what they preach.

It’s all about power and control.

John Kerry’s private jet emitted an estimated 116 metric tons of carbon in 2021.  Conversely, you would have to burn your wood stove every single day for over 800 years to equal the same amount of carbon emissions as John Kerry’s jet in 2021.

On day one of Joe Biden’s administration, he shut down the Keystone XL Pipeline. That pipeline was to be used to transport 830,000 barrels of oil per day from Canada to the gulf refineries.

Because we’re not using the pipeline, we  must transport the same amount of oil by train or by truck.

That is thousands of trucks or trains transporting the oil each day, and requiring a round trip. Everyone, even President Biden, knows a pipeline would be less expensive and more efficient.

It’s hypocritical nonsense. Again, they don’t believe what they’re saying.

They want to ban fossil fuels and use wind and solar as a replacement, but the wind doesn’t blow 24/7, and the sun doesn’t shine 24/7 either.  They are fine for filling in the gap, but not baseload electricity production.

I’ll give you an example. Peak power usage in the state of Alabama is between 5:00 and 6:30 on a cold winter morning.

You wake up, you turn the dishwasher on, the coffee pot is going, you’re cooking breakfast, your family is getting in and out of the shower, hair dryers are going, cell phones are plugged in, the TV is on and your electric heat pump is providing heat for your home.

That may have just described your personal situation, but that also describes much of our entire state.

Is that a time when you want to be relying on wind and solar to power your household?

If you eliminate the use of fossil fuels and move to only solar and wind, and then have a really cold snap like this last winter, we will have blackouts, and people could potentially die.

It’s insane.

The woke left wants to ban beef, combustion engines, fossil fuels, and they want you to have less children, all in the name of climate change.

However, I think Americans see through it and won’t take the bait.

Everyday Americans are tired of having a small group of elites trying to control every aspect of their lives.

Of course, we should be good stewards of the environment that God has blessed us so richly with, but the constant fear mongering and nonsense that provides no real solutions are a sad attempt to tell you how to live your life.

I believe we should continue to stand tall, fight the good fight, love one another and preserve the freedoms endowed by our Creator.
