On Monday night, President Donald Trump announced that a ceasefire between Iran and Israel had been brokered after the two countries traded missile attacks for several days. Whether or not the truce will be effective remains questionable on Tuesday, as both sides continued military operations.
For the moment, it seems that a region-wide and more deadly conflict has been avoided.
“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”
Never afraid to share a political opinion, Auburn Tigers men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl — a noted staunch supporter of Israel — expressed appreciation for the President’s work to prevent the further loss of life in both countries.
Pearl even took it a step further, calling for Trump to receive a Nobel Peace Prize:
