Britt slams ‘despicable’ Massachusetts abortion law, praises pro-life groups

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is continuing to show her support for pro-life groups like Live Action in the wake of Democratic states passing laws making it easier to have an abortion.

Britt discussed the issue recently on “This Week on Capitol Hill with Tony Perkins.”

“They’re absolutely killing babies,” Britt said. “And I think we have to speak directly into that, that is what makes the other side uncomfortable is the truth. And what Live Action has done, when you look at their videos, them showing this precious child and their face and their features, and then you see what actually happens in an abortion, whether it is that child being penetrated through the heart or being sucked out of their mother’s womb.”

Abortion is the only “medical” procedure where success is measured by the stopping of a heartbeat.

“I mean, think about this,” she continued, “this is the only procedure out there, the only medical procedure where success is measured by the ending of a heartbeat. I think that’s the only thing you need to know. I appreciate what Live Action is doing. I want them to continue to elevate their voice.”

The senator also spoke out against a new law in Massachusetts, the Filed as the Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act, that removes the state’s late-term restriction on abortions and allows licensed physicians to decide whether one can be performed after the 24-week gestational period.

“It’s despicable and disgusting. You have women in Massachusetts cheering for the fact that they are able to take the life of their child the moment before their child is born,” she argued. “My daughter was born in Massachusetts, so when I saw this law being passed and women cheering behind them about being able to take the precious life of their own child right before that child is born, there was a pit in my stomach that you cannot explain.”

“I think about my daughter coming into the world there in Boston, Massachusetts,” she added. “As we know, Scripture tells us in Jeremiah that the Lord knew us before He formed us in the womb, that He set us apart.”

Britt also praised a Department of Justice investigation into the use of the abortion drug mifepristone.

“I want DOJ to utilize its resources to make sure we’re putting an end to this,” she said, “because it’s not only taking the life of the unborn, but it’s putting women at risk as well.”

I have urged the DOJ to protect women and unborn children by not only reinstating in-person requirements for mifepristone, but also to review the safety of these dangerous abortion drugs.
