According to a release, Breeze aims to provide non-stop service in an effort to bring transportation services to traditionally unreserved areas of the United States at affordable rates. The air service provider will offer point-to-point flights from smaller secondary airports, bypassing hubs for shorter travel times.
Breeze began airline operations in May 2021. The airline’s first A220 is expected to be placed in service in the second quarter of 2022.
According to Airbus, the company’s A220 is the only aircraft purpose-built for the 100-150 seat market which boasts a state-of-the-art aerodynamic structure, advanced materials, and Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation geared turbofan engines.
In line with its climate-friendly agenda, the A220 delivers up to 25% lower fuel burn and CO2 emissions per seat compared to the previous generation aircraft. Additionally, it will deliver 50% lower NOx emissions than industry standards. The aircraft’s noise footprint is reduced by 50% compared to the previous generation aircraft.
As of the end of last month, 12 worldwide operators have received over 170 A220s.
