According to the office of George H.W. Bush, the former president has shaved his head in support of Patrick, a 2-year-old boy battling leukemia. Bush got the idea to go bald when he noticed members of his security team were shaving their heads to offer their support to the boy. Patrick’s father is a member of Bush’s secret service detail.
Bush’s office also announced the launch of a website, www.patrickspals.org, “to assist with Patrick’s medical bills, and organized the Inaugural Patrick’s Pals Motorcycle Benefit Run on August 10th in Kennebunkport — a 50-mile motorcycle ride through the Maine countryside followed by a lunch and silent auction to raise funds for Patrick’s treatments.”
George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara lost a young daughter, Robin, to leukemia in 1953.
Well done, Mr. President.
