Black Lives Matter joins out-of-state calls pushing unionization of Amazon’s Bessemer facility as potential revote looms

A number of liberal, out-of-state activists and elected officials descended upon Alabama to push the unionization of workers at Bessemer’s Amazon Fulfillment Center. In April, a vote of the company’s employees opted to forgo the effort.

However, it appears as if left-wing political organizations are not finished lobbying Alabama laborers.

Black Lives Matter (BLM) has joined the progressive crusade to organize the facility’s employees. The far-left organization took to social media to encourage its followers to sign a pledge of support for workers in what it calls their “fight to unionize.”

The tweet reads, “We’re not backing down – our Bessemer family’s fight for unionization is far from over. Workers’ rights are human rights [and] Amazon’s intimidation [and] manipulation won’t win.”

BLM goes on to urge its followers to support New York-based Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union’s (RWDSU) attempt to organize the Bessemer facility, and to assist “all the black workers fighting for equity.”

The self-proclaimed organization of “liberators” joins President Joe Biden, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), failed Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, as well as actor Danny Glover in advising Alabamians that collectivizing is in their best interests.

During the duration of the ballot counting process, it became evident that the company’s labor force overwhelmingly disagreed with such calls, as roughly 70of employees declined to support the effort.

BLM and RWDSU say the unionization efforts are not over due to an official with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) recommending that the workers’ collective decision not to unionize should be nullified, claiming Amazon employed “anti-union” tactics during the course of the campaign.

The NLRB is expected to review the matter and issue a decision on whether or not Amazon’s Bessemer facility will have to conduct a revote.
