A deadly shooting in Birmingham left two people dead and another with non-life threatening injuries on Friday afternoon. A South Birmingham neighborhood saw what is suspected to be an attempted robbery gone wrong, according to AL.com.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department issued a plea to violent criminals after a deadly week in the city that saw multiple fatal shootings, with this case believed to have been a planned and targeted crime.
“We can’t stress to you enough how important people, places and behaviors factor into the violence that is going on in our city,” Fitzgerald said, with broad daylight crimes becoming more rampant throughout this summer. “This comes from a place of love…young men, we live in Alabama where everybody has a gun. Before you think you can get the drop on somebody, just remember that other person you think may be a victim, it doesn’t always turn out that way.”
“These are two men in 90-degree weather wearing ski masks,” Fitzgerald said.
“You tell us what you think they were up to. That’s what we’re dealing with.”
