AT&T earlier this week announced that it had named Birmingham native Cara Fields as the telecommunications company’s vice president and general manager for the Gulf States market.
In her new role, Fields will manage over 2,100 employees at over 100 AT&T retail locations. Additionally, she will support more than 200 national retail partners in the territory.
Fields holds over two decades worth of experience in the telecommunications business. She has held hands-on roles relating to sales, operations and distribution, as well as leading company sales and service staff teams.
“I’m so excited to be back home in Gulf States where I was born and raised,” proclaimed Fields in reflecting on her new position. “This is an amazing market for AT&T with the absolute best customers. Add in the incredibly diverse and talented workforce we have, and it simply cannot be beat.”
In her previous position, Fields was charged with leading all AT&T Mobility Customer Care Centers. She oversaw more than 20,000 internal employees and external contact center professionals, including various international locations for the company’s Mobility Customer Care division. Additionally, she served as chief of staff to the CEO of AT&T Communications, Inc.
Fields, a resident of Hoover, is actively involved in her community as she has served as a mentor in women’s leadership programs inside and outside of AT&T. She also volunteers her time with the United Way Women of Tocqueville Society and IGNITE National, a non-partisan organization which empowers women to become involved in the political arena.
