Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin on Wednesday evening announced that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
“COVID-19 has made its way to my doorstep. I’ve tested positive but my symptoms are currently mild,” the mayor tweeted.
“Remember, everyone – COVID is real. Please be safe and protect yourselves and your loved ones this holiday weekend,” he added.
He was reportedly tested earlier in the day. This came after a public safety press conference in the morning. Woodfin is now isolating at home and working remotely.
More information was not immediately available.
