For many years, Sisco was a familiar voice hosting the afternoon drive show on Yellowhammer affiliate station, 105.1 WQSB in Albertville. Sisco passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 1st, leaving a void in the Alabama broadcasting community.
The news of Rod’s passing was shared with WQSB listeners by Barry Galloway, host of the Barry & Holli Morning Show, shortly after the tragic news broke.
Today, WQSB dedicated their entire morning show to celebrating Rod’s life and remarkable career. The moving tribute featured heartfelt stories from former colleagues, close friends, and his family, including his three children: Grant, Asia, and Savannah. Each shared personal accounts of the profound influence Rod had on their lives.
Not only was Mr. Sisco the host of one of the most popular afternoon radio programs in the Yellowhammer State, but he also dedicated his entire career of almost 40 years to Sand Mountain Broadcasting and their family of stations, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his community and love of broadcasting.
On behalf of everyone at Yellowhammer News, we extend our sincerest condolences to the entire WQSB family, the Sand Mountain Broadcast family, and especially to Rod Sisco’s family during this difficult time. Rod Sisco was 54 years old.
Funeral arrangements are available on the Albertville Memorial Chapel’s website.
