When I think about the future of this country, I think about my children and grandchildren. I think about the opportunities they will have, the freedoms they will enjoy, and whether the America they inherit will still be the country that has given generations of Americans the chance to build a better life.
That is why elections matter.
The people we send to Washington and the leaders we elect in our own communities will make decisions that affect our families long after their time in office is over. We cannot afford to treat our vote as something we can take or leave.
Look at the direction some candidates want to take this country. We have socialist politicians who believe government should have a much larger role in our lives, our economy, and the decisions families make for themselves. They want Americans to believe that Washington knows best.
I grew up with a different understanding of this country. Hard work, faith, and personal responsibility are what build strong families and communities, not bigger government and more dependence on politicians.
We also have to be willing to defend the values that made America what it is. Our country was shaped by a Christian heritage, and that is something we should be proud of.
Our faith and our founding principles are not things we should set aside to appease anyone. Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our Constitution, but so is the rule of law. Sharia law should never have authority over American law or the Constitution. We must never compromise on the principles on which this nation was founded.
These radical ideas that are becoming mainstream should present a question all Americans should be asking themselves – what kind of country are we leaving for future generations? I want the next generation to grow up in an America where they can worship freely, work hard, raise a family, and know that their future is not dictated by the government.
That future will not take care of itself. It takes people who are willing to pay attention, get involved, and show up when it is time to vote. We have been entrusted with a great country.
We have a responsibility to do our part to make sure the generations coming behind us have the same opportunity to enjoy it.
