U.S. Rep. Barry Moore gave his firsthand account of getting President Donald Trump’s endorsement in a competitive 2026 race for U.S. Senate.
In an appearance on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program” today, Moore (R-Enterprise) said, “I’ve been with him since day one, and it’s good to have him with us.” WATCH:
“We are so excited,” Moore said.
“You know, it’s just a wonderful weekend. And he called me Saturday night and from Mar-a-Lago and had a good conversation. And man, it’s just it’s good to have him in the fight with us. I’ve been in the fight with him for a long time, so it was certainly a wonderful phone call to receive and an encouraging message for our team. And you saw what he put out in the press release. I’ve been with him since day one, and it’s good to have him with us. Alabama loves President Trump as we do, and so it’s just great to have him on our team.”
When asked if he was surprised by the timing of the endorsement, Moore said, “we had been hearing rumors.”
“He actually, I think, was considering endorsing me before the Christmas break, before the holidays, at least that’s what I was told. But people around him said, wait till after the first of the year, because, you know, things get lost over the holiday season. People are not really paying attention to politics. So, I think you wanted to do it at the time, that it could be most impactful.”
