Small businesses are the lifeblood of Alabama’s economy and drive communities across this nation.
As someone who spent years running a small business before being elected to Congress, I understand the pressures our job creators face – rising costs, worker shortages, and a federal bureaucracy that too often makes life harder instead of easier.
That’s why this past week in the House, we took real steps to defend Main Street and restore common sense to Washington.
First, we passed the Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act, a long-overdue reform that forces federal agencies to stop piling new regulations onto small businesses without eliminating old or duplicative ones.
For years, small business owners have told Washington that burdensome regulations are stifling growth and making it harder for their businesses to grow, even as they are putting more hours in and working harder than ever.
This bill finally puts guardrails on the bureaucracy and ensures small businesses aren’t treated like an afterthought.
We also passed the Dump Red Tape Act, which creates a dedicated hotline so small businesses can report costly, burdensome federal rules directly to the SBA’s Office of Advocacy.
Too many small employers feel ignored or steamrolled when a new regulation hits them out of nowhere. This bill gives them a voice and creates accountability when federal agencies overreach.
Beyond legislation, House Republicans are working to restore a healthy economy so businesses can thrive again.
Under President Trump’s leadership, we’re focused on lowering energy costs, strengthening supply chains, and pushing back against federal overreach that drives up prices for everything from fuel to fertilizer.
When Washington gets out of the way and lets American workers do what they do best, our small towns and business communities prosper.
These bills reflect a commitment from House Republicans that America is strongest when small businesses thrive. I’ll always fight for the farmers, retailers, contractors, and entrepreneurs who keep Alabama’s economy running.
