The NBA Draft’s second round saw one of the most prominent players from the state of Alabama in recent memory come off the board.
With the 35th selection in the draft, the Philadelphia 76ers selected now former Auburn big man Johni Broome, who is coming off the best season of his storied collegiate career.

Auburn Tigers Head Coach Bruce Pearl reacted to the news on his X account with a simple one-word post:

Broome was last season’s SEC player of the year and made just about every first team possible because of his incredible performance. He averaged 18.6 points per game and 10.8 rebounds with nearly three assists as well, doing it all for the SEC regular season champs and leading Auburn back to the Final Four.

Broome will have his work cut out for him in trying to crack minutes on the 76ers roster, but he has earned himself a spot in the league. If he can develop the necessary level of skill to compete in the NBA, the former Tiger will have the chance to be a longtime pro.
