Auburn city leaders gathered on February 20, 2025, to recognize Abbie Stockard, a nursing student at Auburn University, following her historic win as Miss America 2025.
Stockard made history in January by becoming the first Auburn student to claim the prestigious title and the fourth from the state of Alabama. This week, Abbie returned to Auburn for the first time since being crowned. In honor of her achievement, Auburn Mayor Ron Anders officially proclaimed February 20 as “Abbie Stockard Day,” celebrating her success and the inspiration she brings to the community.

“I want little girls to know their worth is not tied to the opinion of others,” Stockard shared during the ceremony. “I hope to inspire them so that they can accomplish their dreams, no matter how small or big they may seem.”
Currently enrolled in Auburn University’s nursing program, Stockard is set to resume classes this fall. She has aspirations to further her education by pursuing a doctorate in nurse anesthesia.
Her journey as Miss America continues to shine a spotlight on Auburn University and inspire young women to chase their dreams, no matter the obstacles.
