Andrew Jones announces re-election bid to Alabama Senate

State Sen. Andrew Jones (R-Centre) will launch his re-election campaign at events in Etowah and Cherokee Counties next week.

Since his election in 2018, Jones says he has built a legislative record that reflects his commitment to conservative principles and the needs of his constituents in District 10.

Jones is the Chair of the Veterans Affairs, Military, and Public Safety Committee, Vice-Chair of the Tourism Committee, and a member of the Senate Rules Committee.

“I ran for the State Senate because I had seen firsthand as a business owner and farmer how government impacts hardworking Alabamians,” said Jones. “My priorities since taking office have been in lock-step with that original platform, and I’m proud of the accomplishments we have made.”

“The people of Etowah, Cherokee, and DeKalb elected me to be their voice and to fight to bring back resources from Montgomery. There have been millions of dollars invested in roads and bridges, high-speed internet, school classrooms, and economic development across District 10. While these investments were definitely a team effort, they are all part of a record that I proudly stand on.”

Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) strongly endorsed Jones’ re-election efforts.

“Senator Jones is a fighter for his district, and he has earned the respect of his colleagues with how he navigates the legislative process,” Gudger said.

Andrew has tackled some tough issues for our state, and he is not afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right. He has been a champion for conservative policies that make life better for working Alabamians. Andrew has my full support and the support of our Republican caucus in his re-election effort.”

Jones has supported legislation aimed at improving services for veterans and military families in Alabama.

His efforts have included backing a measure to create a statewide veterans resource center, expanding mental health services for veterans, and establishing accountability courts for veterans involved in the legal system.

He also sponsored bills to eliminate state income taxes for deployed service members and to ensure that military dependents remain eligible for high school athletics after relocating.

In his campaign announcement, Jones reflected on Alabama’s ranking for military spouse license reciprocity and veteran retirement as evidence of the state’s gains in these areas.

The 2026 Alabama Republican Party primary election will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
