Amazon hosting on-site vaccination clinic for employees at Bessemer fulfillment center

Amazon this week launched its employee vaccination program at the company’s BHM1 fulfillment center in Bessemer.

Working closely with the Alabama Department of Public Health and local clinician partners, Amazon’s state-of-the-art facility is hosting hundreds of local Birmingham-area employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at an onsite clinic.

The on-site vaccination events are administered by licensed health care providers and will run through May 5.

The company in a release said this is an important initiative not only for the health and safety of Amazon employees, but for the communities where its teams live and work.

“These events will protect Amazon employees while also helping ease the burden on community-run vaccination clinics,” the release noted. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of employees, partners, and customers has been Amazon’s top priority. Amazon built a COVID-19 testing program from scratch when the pandemic began to ensure front-line employees had access to free, regular testing—something that wasn’t available in most of their communities. The company continues to expand the voluntary testing program, and has already processed millions of tests across more than 800 sites globally.”

Amazon has committed to continuing to invest in processes and changes to protect employees and communities around the world.
