On Friday, the Alabama Farmers Federation announced its endorsement of John Roberts for Alabama State Senate District 2, which covers Madison and Limestone counties.

“John Roberts will do an exceptional job for the people and businesses of this district,” said Charles Butler, president of the Madison County Farmers Federation. “He has a strong work ethic, and we look forward to his service in the Senate.”

ALFA also reported that Limestone County farmers are confident in Roberts.

“John Roberts will be an outstanding public servant — one we can depend on to watch over farming issues in the Alabama Senate,” said Jerry Allen Newby, president of the Limestone County Farmers Federation. “He will be a strong voice for agriculture and business in Montgomery.”

Roberts is running to fill the State Senate currently held by State Sen. Tom Butler (R-Madison), who announced he would not seek another term earlier this year.

Roberts is a real estate development manager for Freedom Real Estate & Capital LLC in Huntsville. He previously served as business retention and expansion director at the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and director of government affairs and workforce development with the Huntsville Madison County Builders Association.

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Farmers Federation,” Roberts said.

“I am excited about representing the farmers, their agricultural issues and all the constituents of District 2 in Madison and Limestone counties.”

He and his wife, Madison, have two sons. They attend Asbury Church in Madison.

The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state’s largest farm organization with more than 360,000 member families. It uses a true grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Farmers Federation boards of directors for local elections.
