The Alabama Farmers Federation’s political arm (FarmPAC) has finalized its endorsements for the Nov. 3 general election, adding John Wahl, Andrew Sorrell and Jim Zeigler to its statewide slate.
Alabama FarmPAC announced Monday that it is backing Wahl for lieutenant governor, Sorrell for state auditor and Zeigler for Place 2 on the Alabama Public Service Commission.
Federation President Jimmy Parnell said all three candidates met with FarmPAC trustees and county leaders across Alabama throughout the spring and summer.
“We are pleased to support these public servants,” Parnell said. “All three have invested time in getting to know our members and understanding the challenges and opportunities facing farmers, timber owners and rural families.”
The additions complete a statewide ticket that also includes Tommy Tuberville for governor, Katherine Robertson for attorney general, Caroleene Dobson for secretary of state, Young Boozer for state treasurer and Corey Hill for commissioner of agriculture and industries.
FarmPAC is also supporting Barry Moore for U.S. Senate and Republican congressional candidates Jerry Carl, Rhett Marques, Mike Rogers, Robert Aderholt, Dale Strong and Gary Palmer. The organization endorsed candidates for the Alabama Supreme Court, appellate courts and State Board of Education as well.
Parnell used the announcement to urge conservative voters to participate in the general election, pointing to what he described as concerning turnout in this year’s primaries, runoffs and special elections.
“I’m convinced the majority of Alabama voters support family values, smaller government, lower taxes and less regulation, but we have to make our voices heard Nov. 3,” Parnell said.
