First Lady of the United States Melania Trump has extended an invitation to Jeff Denard, an Alabama steelworker and volunteer firefighter, to attend President Trump’s upcoming address before Congress.
According to the White House, Denard has spent nearly three decades working at a steel plant owned by Nucor Steel.
“His good paying, middle class job at the steel plant has allowed Jeff to serve as volunteer firefighter, provide a loving home to dozens of foster children, and organize his fellow steelworkers to respond to natural disasters, including Hurricane Helene,” an announcement from the administration said.
Denard’s dedication to his community and embodiment of the American Dream were highlighted as reasons for his selection.
U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) congratulated Denard on that honor wholeheartedly.
“Jeff is the embodiment of the American Dream we’re fighting to protect and strengthen for hardworking families across our great state.”
Congratulations to Jeff Denard on being selected as one of @FLOTUS’ guests tonight. Jeff is the embodiment of the American Dream we’re fighting to protect and strengthen for hardworking families across our nation. Proud of Alabama’s incredible steelmakers.https://t.co/6HisdfTK7M

The invitation comes as Trump seeks to focus on honoring everyday Americans who contribute significantly to their communities.
President Trump’s address is scheduled for Tuesday evening, where he is expected to outline his legislative agenda and highlight stories like Denard’s that reflect the nation’s values and work ethic.
