When reports broke that the 6-year-old son of Alabama State Rep. Ernie Yarborough (R-Trinity) had shot his 13-year-old brother, many were relieved the wound was not fatal.

How this is handled legally will be handled by law enforcement and prosecutors.

But the fact that a 6-year-old obtained and fired a gun inside the house requires us to look at how this stuff continues to happen and what can be done.
