Officials gathered Thursday at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham to officially open new glamping tents, marking the latest expansion of overnight accommodations within Alabama’s state park system.
Representatives from the City of Pelham, the park, and Timberline Glamping participated in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting to dedicate the sites, which are now available for reservations.

The new tents offer visitors a more comfortable outdoor experience while maintaining access to traditional park activities such as hiking and camping.
Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner Chris Blankenship said the addition reflects growing demand for enhanced outdoor stays.
“It’s exciting to expand the glamping opportunities at our state parks,” Blankenship said. “Glamping has become increasingly popular in the last few years, and we’ve seen how much our visitors have embraced it.”
The Oak Mountain sites are part of a broader rollout of glamping accommodations across Alabama State Parks, which now offer the experience at multiple locations statewide.
Yellowhammer News previously reported on Alabama State Parks’ expansion of glamping accommodations at Oak Mountain, part of a broader effort to meet growing demand for more comfortable outdoor stays.
Alabama State Parks operates 21 parks encompassing more than 50,000 acres, with lodging options ranging from primitive campsites to cabins and other upgraded accommodations.
