The Alabama Crimson Tide is getting set for what is a massive test on the road this week against the Georgia Bulldogs in a game where they need a victory to avoid taking a second loss before October which would put their season on the brink.
Under Kalen DeBoer, the Tide has struggled in tough road environments and lost some games many felt they should not have, punctuated by an ugly performance week one this year in Tallahassee against Florida State.
Alabama will try to take a new mindset on the road to Athens where they have not played in a decade this week, and it seems the team is embracing it. During his media availability, senior linebacker and team captain Deontae Lawson spoke about how they are treating this week, and it will have Tide fans fired up.
“It’s just the things we’ve been preaching, the sideline having juice, and just to know it’s us against everyone,” Lawson said when asked about the team’s mentality. “On the sideline, we’re all we got and we’re all we need…just picking your brother up on the sideline, because it’s 100,000 against you, you need your brothers to support you and bring life and juice to you. It all comes down to executing, and if you can execute on the field you can take the crowd away and it’s just 11 on 11.”
Time will tell if Alabama actually lives out this mindset, but it certainly sounds like they are in the proper headspace ahead of such a big game.
