About 50 conservative clubs and student chapters from across Alabama will gather on the steps of the State Capitol in Montgomery on Sunday afternoon to cap off Patriot’s Pantry, a months-long canned food drive for Alabama families struggling with food insecurity.
The celebration is set for 3 to 5 p.m. Republican nominee for Lt. Governor John Wahl and Secretary of State nominee Caroleene Dobson are the featured speakers.
Brady Johnson, youth coordinator for the Alabama Republican Party, is helping organize the project.
“The purpose is to bring together conservative groups across the state to support Alabama families who are struggling with food insecurity,” Johnson said.
The participating groups have been collecting canned food for the past few months. They include the Alabama Republican Party, Alabama Republican Women, College Republicans, Turning Point USA and Young Americans for Freedom.
