BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Garden & Gun Magazine, a Southern lifestyle magazine, recently published an article describing 50 reasons it loves the land south of the Mason Dixon line, including the scent of Magnolias, our serious sense of hospitality, and obviously superior culinary offerings.
In the article, Garden & Gun profiles Florence, Alabama’s Odette eatery, and Birmingham’s award-winning Highlands Grill. The piece also details a few lesser-known Alabama landmarks, such as the “Great Wall of Alabama,” a mile-long stone wall built by Florence native Tom Hendrix in commemoration of the five-year-long walk his great-great-grandmother made back from Oklahoma after being forced West on the Trail of Tears.
And of course, no list about the South would be complete without a mention of college football.
Here at Yellowhammer, though, we couldn’t help but notice a few things were missing from Garden & Gun’s list, so we have a question for you:
What is your favorite thing about Alabama and life in the South?
We can’t wait to read your answers in the comments on our Facebook page, then share them here later this week.
