The Alabama Grocers Association (AGA) announced Monday it is endorsing Republican candidate Caroleene Dobson in the 2026 race for Alabama Secretary of State.
“The Alabama Grocers Association is proud to endorse Caroleene Dobson for Secretary of State,” said Ellie Taylor, President and CEO of AGA. “This office plays a vital role in maintaining a strong, efficient business climate in Alabama. From streamlined filings to regulatory clarity, the Secretary of State’s leadership directly impacts grocery stores across our state.”
“Dobson understands the importance of this role and will help ensure Alabama’s grocers can operate efficiently, grow confidently, and continue serving their communities.”
Dobson has pledged to streamline business filings and reduce delays that frustrate employers and drive up costs for Alabama families.
“Grocery stores across Alabama are operated by independent retailers who support rural communities and create local jobs,” Dobson said. “They should not be hindered by unnecessary red tape or unclear directions coming out of Montgomery. As Secretary of State, I will implement faster filings, provide straightforward guidance, and build a system that respects the time of Alabama job creators.”
As an attorney, Dobson has said her legal background gives her a strong understanding of regulatory structure and the responsibility of administering state law.
She has also said she plans to modernize the Business Services Division and cut regulations that slow economic growth, while focusing on protecting Alabama’s elections from fraud, outside interference, and federal overreach.
The Alabama Grocers Association represents retail grocers and food industry partners across the state.
Dobson is one of three Republicans currently seeking the office. Her primary opponents are Christian Horn and Glenda S. Jackson.
The Republican primary election is set for May 19.
