Alabama Forestry Association endorses State Sen. Tom Butler’s reelection campaign

The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) has announced its endorsement of State Sen. Tom Butler (R-Madison) in his reelection bid to the Alabama State Senate, serving District 2.

Butler holds degrees in chemistry and biology from the University of Alabama. Upon his graduation from UA, he went on to earn a degree from the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy.

A lifelong resident of Madison County, Butler serves as a local pharmacist in the city of Madison.

In 1982, Butler was elected to the Alabama House of representatives, where he served three terms until being elected to the upper chamber in 1995.

In announcing his organization’s endorsement of Butler, AFA president and CEO Chris Isaacson praised the senator’s longstanding service to North Alabama.

“Tom’s long tenure in Montgomery not only helps his constituents, but his community in North Alabama that he serves so diligently,” said Isaacson. “We are looking forward to another four years with Senator Butler in the senate and AFA is excited to support his reelection bid.”

AFA noted Butler’s work toward supporting schools, law enforcement and emergency services, as well as his efforts in advocating for economic growth.

The senator touted the role AFA plays in its advocacy for the timber industry and economic development.

“I am elated for the endorsement from the Forestry Association,” stated Butler. “AFA has members that contribute to the Alabama economy more than anyone else in the state. Where new houses are popping up in my district, the timber industry plays a vital role in making sure those homes happens. I look forward to continuing growing the industry in the state.”

Senate District 2 covers Madison and Limestone Counties. The primary election will take place on May 24, 2022.
