Former University of Alabama star running back Siran Stacy recently announced his endorsement of Republican Katie Britt in Alabama’s hotly contested race for the U.S. Senate.
The All-American running back played in Tuscaloosa from 1989-1991 and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 1992 NFL draft. The Wiregrass native would go on to play in the NFL Europe, where he was league MVP.
Stacy, a traveling ordained minister, in 2017 endorsed the Republican candidacy of former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy More in Alabama’s special election for the U.S. Senate.
Britt’s campaign released a video of Stacy formally endorsing the first-time candidate, who he said was a “fighter” and “exactly what America needs right now.”
“Hi, it’s Siran Stacy here. Some of you may recall my playing days at the University of Alabama or National Football League or maybe ministering at your local church about the good news of the Kingdom of God,” says Stacy in the video. “I want to speak to you about a different playing field. This playing field makes critical decisions impacting our neighborhoods, our communities, our overall culture itself. Now, right now, in Washington, D.C., there’s a cry for authentic leadership. This is why I’m supporting Katie Britt.”
He continued, “Katie Britt is a person that is purposeful, she’s someone with passion, she’s someone that’s a fighter. She’s a loving wife, an incredible mother. She’s exactly what America needs right now. Will you join me in supporting Katie Britt for the next United States Senator from the great state of Alabama the Beautiful? I pray that you will. May God bless you. And Roll Tide – and War Eagle!”

Britt expressed her appreciation to Stacy and pledged to protect “Christian conservative values” as Alabama’s junior senator.
“I am grateful and humbled to have Siran’s support,” said Britt. “What he does every day is the most important work out there – sharing his testimony and leading others to share in the gift of Salvation through our Savior, Jesus Christ. In the U.S. Senate, I will always fight for our religious liberties and defend our Christian conservative values. Together, we will save the country we know and love for our children and our children’s children.”
