State Sen. Tom Whatley (R-Auburn) has earned the endorsement of the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) in his reelection bid to the Alabama Senate, serving District 27.
Whatley holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Auburn University and a juris doctorate from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. The senator, a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, has served in the Alabama National Guard, Active Army or Reserves for over three decades.
Whatley serves on the Senate Finance and Taxation Education, Confirmations, Judiciary, Banking and Insurance, and Healthcare Committees.
Whatley conveyed appreciation to ALFA over its endorsement of his reelection bid, saying that he was “deeply humbled to receive this endorsement and will work hard to represent the farmers and all the citizens and businesses of Senate District 27.” He added, “It is a true honor to serve the people of this district.”
Senate District 27 covers Lee, Russell and Tallapoosa Counties. ALFA representatives from each county heaped praise upon Whatley for his work in supporting the interests of local agriculture.
“Sen. Whatley knows the importance of agriculture in his district and our state, and he works hard to represent us in the Senate,” advised Lee County Farmers Federation president Jamie Lazenby. “He has been a senator who is able and accessible to the people of our district.”
Russell County Famers Federation president Bill Lowery stated, “Sen. Whatley has lived on a farm and is one of us. He knows how important agriculture is in this district, and he will see to it that our needs are represented.”
Jacob Hodnett, Tallapoosa Farmers Federation president, commended the senator for his service in the legislature’s upper chamber.
“Sen. Whatley is a conservative who knows our principles and ideals and will continue to represent us well,” proclaimed Hodnett, Tallapoosa Farmers Federation president. “We have confidence in his leadership in the Senate.”
