Alabama comes in ranked as second most hated college football team in America

The Alabama Crimson Tide has been among the most successful teams in all of sports over the last two decades, and apparently all that success has rubbed off on a significant portion of the rest of the nation.

In a survey conducted by RotoWire, every state in the nation named their most-hated college football team, and while the Crimson Tide did not claim the most states, it did claim the second-most.

Unsurprisingly, based on their national brand outside of the South, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish “won” the battle with a total of eight states naming them as their least favorite team. The Irish dominated the entire Northeast with Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont all claiming their hatred.

Fascinatingly, Notre Dame was also the most hated team in California, likely largely due to its long-standing rivalry with USC.

As for Alabama, their hatred was not just confined to the South either, claiming the title in six states spread across the map. Obvious states like Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee named Alabama as the most-hated while the Yellowhammer State named Georgia as its most despised.

Fascinatingly though, both Alaska and Hawaii also named the Crimson Tide as their least favorite team, showcasing the national reach of what six national titles in 15 years can do in terms of recognition.

If the Tide can start winning championships again here soon, perhaps it can widen the list of states who cannot stand the program.
