AG Marshall: ‘Secure the border before terrorists do harm on American soil’

Illegal immigration issues are national security issues, now more than ever, according to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.

He joined 27 other state attorneys general in a legal filing demanding an immediate halt to the Biden administration’s catch-and-release policy, calling for stricter enforcement of immigration laws and a fortified border.

“Crime is on the forefront of every American’s mind, and with illegal aliens flooding through Biden’s porous border, the administration has likely invited cartel members, traffickers, and terrorists into our backyard,” Marshall said.

“There is no telling the damage that 100,000 unknown aliens every month will continue to do to our communities.”

The front of state AGs pinpoint Biden administration’s policies to a reported surge of more than 7 million illegal immigrants crossing the U.S. border.

This claim comes despite a court ruling against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which ordered a halt to the mass release of inadmissible immigrants. The agency has reportedly continued with the releases.

“My colleagues and I have played the important role as the last line of defense against Biden’s poor political strategies, but the situation becomes more dire each day. We cannot have more American blood shed because of his pathetic policies on the border,” Marshall said.

On the federal level, Alabama’s senior U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has consistently raised concerns about the southern border being a gateway for terrorists to enter the country.

“The Biden administration refuses to secure our southern border, despite record numbers of deadly drugs, terrorist watch-listers, and other bad actors pouring into the U.S. unobstructed,” Tuberville said in March.

A GOP House Judiciary Committee report revealed this week that Biden’s enforcement is falling short in monitoring millions of migrants who have entered the U.S. illegally via the southern border. It showed that illegal migrant encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border surpassed 2.2 million in the initial 11 months of the 2023 fiscal year.
