On Friday, the Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama announced its inaugural West Alabama Future Leaders in Construction (FLIC) program graduates.
“FLIC represents our commitment to investing in the next generation of industry leaders,” said Tim Harrison, ABC Board Chairman and President of Harrison Construction.
“These graduates are the future of Alabama’s construction workforce, and programs like this ensure our industry continues to grow stronger, more innovative, and better prepared to meet the demands of tomorrow.”
FLIC is an immersive leadership development initiative designed to empower emerging professionals in the commercial construction industry with the tools, mindset, and confidence to lead effectively.
“As the facilitator of Future Leaders in Construction, my goal is to equip emerging professionals with timeless leadership principles they can carry throughout their careers,” David Salters, Program Coordinator, said.
“We’re building more than just skills—we’re building confidence, clarity, and connection to the future of our industry.”
From project managers and estimators to superintendents and general managers, FLIC participants have opportunities to strengthen their business acumen, build their personal leadership brand, and develop advanced communication and conflict-management skills.
Each session is carefully designed to enhance both professional expertise and leadership character.
This experience bridges the gap between today’s leaders and tomorrow’s workforce, reinforcing the program’s mission of sustainable industry growth.
“FLIC is more than a class—it’s a launchpad for leadership that lasts,” said Salters.
“Our goal is to cultivate leaders who not only excel in their companies but also elevate the construction industry as a whole.”
