[tps_title]7. Defeat of unitary tax reporting proposal[/tps_title]
The Alabama business community rallied in opposition to a bill to require combined unitary reporting for tax purposes, a costly measure for businesses and the state. The Business Associations’ Tax Coalition, 26 trade associations representing a cross-section of Alabama businesses, successfully opposed a mandatory unitary combined income reporting bill.
“Many BATC members have long-standing positions in opposition to unitary combined reporting for basic and obvious reasons,” the BATC letter to House Speaker Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn) said.
The Legislature’s business was not completed in the regular session, which ended without a 2015-16 General Fund budget. Passage will have to be accomplished in a special session later this summer.
