7. Former President Donald Trump has been fined $5,000 for not removing a post on his campaign website about the court clerk of Judge Arthur Engoron. The post suggested the clerk was the girlfriend of U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and included her address. Another gag order was lifted in another case Trump is currently fighting.
6. Don’t expect to see U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) in an electric vehicle anytime soon, he says he wants a pause on what he calls, Biden’s “extreme electric vehicle mandate.” Tuberville cites inflation and the impact the cost of the mandated vehicles vs. gasoline-powered cars will have on average Americans, “[e]lectric vehicles might be a good choice in San Francisco, but we shouldn’t force them on Alabama.”
5. If Alabama’s schools are hoping for yet another reprieve on the pending Alabama Literacy Act retention punishment, State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur) says they need to forget about it. Orr highlighted the multiple delays in implementing the portions of the bill that will hold children back who can’t read after this school year, saying those provisions will go into effect and “[w]e can’t back down anymore.”
4. U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) says he was never working with Democrats on electing a new Speaker of the House, is opposing any form of bipartisan coalition, and that his choice will ultimately be a conservative Republican.
3. The Speaker of the House race is heating up with 9 possible candidates and Alabama’s U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) has thrown his hat in the ring. Palmer made the announcement on X, “The American people are desperate for authentic leadership. Leadership that is steady and conservative. This is why I decided to step forward in the race for Speaker of the House.”
2. U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is in Israel, she is the sole freshman on the trip. In related news, one of her staffers was robbed at gunpoint in Washington, D.C., but the senator says the staffer complied and is a victim of D.C.’s out-of-control crime epidemic.
1. The U.S. is attempting to have Israel hold off on its “imminent” ground offensive to try to get hostages out. Aid is arriving in Gaza, two hostages have been released, and no doubt that Hamas is preparing for a long war.
