7. Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign reportedly spent over $1 billion in three months, but it now faces financial strain with approximately $20 million in debt after paying celebrities, the Las Vegas Sphere, pilots to fly banners, and different racially based groups millions upon millions of dollars with very little discernable return on investment. Democratic National Committee finance committee member Lindy Li criticized the campaign’s financial management, calling it a “disaster” and suggesting donors were misled about spending efficiency. Despite heavy investments in digital and advertising campaigns, the spending spree has fueled internal tension and scrutiny over its effectiveness in the tight race
6 . Judge Juan Merchan’s decision to delay President-elect Donald Trump’s sentencing in his New York hush money case aims to prevent influencing the 2024 election. Previously set for Sept. 18, the sentencing is now postponed to Nov. 26, with Merchan stressing the importance of avoiding any perception of bias, given Trump’s status as a candidate. Trump’s legal team successfully argued for the delay, which also allows for the consideration of Trump’s immunity claim, potentially altering the case outcome depending on a related Supreme Court decision and now Democrats want to see if he can be tried after his second term.
5. A Tuskegee man was recently arrested and has admitted to firing a handgun equipped with a Glock switch, a device that converts semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic firearms. Although he acknowledged using the gun with the switch, he denied intentionally shooting at anyone, according to police records. The case highlights the growing concerns around the illegal use of auto-sear devices, which are linked to rising gun violence and can be acquired cheaply through black-market sources.
4. Sen. Katie Britt recently expressed her support for Lara Trump as a potential candidate to fill Marco Rubio’s Florida U.S. Senate seat, should it become available. Britt praised Trump as a “tremendous pick” for her commitment to conservative values and her strong advocacy for American interests. If/when Rubio is appointed, Gov. Ron DeSantis will appoint a Florida senator to serve until a 2026 special election, some reports suggest that he could appoint U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, himself, or even his wife to the seat.
3. Former President Donald Trump has proposed relocating U.S. Space Command headquarters to Huntsville, Alabama, citing the area’s space-focused infrastructure and defense capabilities as key reasons. The move has faced political opposition, particularly from Colorado lawmakers who want to keep the command in Colorado Springs, its temporary home. But Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth reported on Twitter that things are moving forward, “Get ready North Alabama. Just got off the phone with @SenTuberville team, and they are confident @realDonaldTrump will bring Space Command back to its rightful home in Alabama.”
2. U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) announced his plan to run for re-election in 2026, aiming to continue representing Alabama in the U.S. Senate, spiking any talk about Tuberville running for governor or serving in President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet. Tuberville, who has served since 2021, highlighted key issues like fiscal discipline and national security as central to his campaign. His decision signals his intent to stay engaged in national politics and continue advocating for conservative values
1. President-elect Donald Trump is assembling a team of “loyalists” and is preparing for a potential second term with an assertive agenda and personnel loyal to his vision, which the media is treating like an odd decision even thought this is how this works. The highest profile decisions include the Ivy League, combat veteran, veteran charity founder and Fox News host Pete Hegseth being nominated as Secretary of Defense and using billionaire Elon Mush and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy to cut government waste with the meme-able “Department of Government Efficiency” or DOGE blue-ribbon committee. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) will be the Secretary of State, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem was tapped for Secretary of Homeland Security, Rep. Mike Waltz will serve as National Security Adviser, and U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) will be appointed as ambassador to the United Nations.
