7. The National Weather Service is warning that Hurricane Isaias, could produce a “sting jet,” “a highly localized, narrow stream of strong to violent wind” of 50 to 60 mph in central Alabama after a Friday night or Saturday landfall.

Former Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl called out New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as “a liar and a coward” over his Oct. 7 remarks, writing, “Even on the day we mourn the innocent victims of Oct 7th, you spew a sick false narrative about the War in Gaza,” and adding, “Hamas is 100% responsible for the loss of life on BOTH SIDES.”

5. U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) joined with Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) and 128 members of Congress in urging the Health and Human Services inspector general to investigate Planned Parenthood and its affiliates, writing that “serious concerns have long been raised” about compliance with federal fund rules after a Small Business Administration review of roughly $88 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans and further allegations of fraud and false statements by the abortion mill.

With Hurricane Isaias threatening Saturday’s Georgia-Alabama game in Tuscaloosa, with options to move the game remain, move to Sunday, a site change, or a bye-week swap to Oct. 24 as the Southeastern Conference’s options, Alabama Athletics said “there are no plans to alter the contest,” and President Donald Trump’s appearance is in doubt, with the President saying, “I’m going to let the hurricane determine; I want people to be safe.”

Alabama Education Superintendent Eric Mackey said preliminary figures show public K-12 enrollment fell by roughly 12,000 students, more than double last year’s drop of about 5,300, warning, “That will be impactful on the budget,” and estimating about 800 lost teacher units, even as the CHOOSE Act approved funding for 12,367 students, up 70 percent, and the state logged 13,425 homeschool applications, 8,264 of them new.

2. OpenAI said operatives in Iran used its models and fake personas to plant roughly 100 articles by seven fake journalists in about a dozen outlets, including pieces titled “Is America’s Iran Policy Being Privatized? The Jared Kushner Question,” with the company writing that the activity “appeared consistent with a commercial actor running a for-hire influence campaign,” while former intelligence official Jessica Brandt said, “It’s remarkable that the Iranians managed to land their content in real media outlets.”

Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said he is ready to sign a lottery if lawmakers put it on the ballot and voters pass it, telling reporters, “Let the people vote on it,” “everywhere I go, everybody wants it,” and “I’d sign off on it if the people voted it in,” and he also warning against radical Islam’s spread in the United States that  has been enabled by socialist open-border policies, saying of Europe, “They’re about seven or eight years ahead of us, and they’ve been overrun.”
