7. Transgender candidate gets destroyed in Jefferson County. This was a battle between the woke far-left with help from out of state and the Alabama Democratic Party establishment. Sylvia Swain raised over $200k, almost 3 times the amount raised by the eventual winner, Travis Hendrix.
6. Republican Alabama State Treasurer Young Boozer is being criticized by State Sen. Jabo Waggoner (R-Vestavia Hills) for not allowing Birmingham-Southern College to receive a loan from the state. BSC’s economic impact on Jefferson County is over $70 million a year, might be time for them to pony up some cash.
5. Abortions are up since the ending of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court, but abortions are way down in Alabama while in states bordering anti-abortion states are way up. This is literally the point of the end of Roe v. Wade, to let states decide.
4. The arrests of five people for blocking traffic in Decatur was followed by Rodney Gordon, the president of the Morgan County NAACP, telling a pretty silly lie that not even he believes. 3. Connecting military aid for Ukraine to military aid for Israel is being done to force one who supports one of them to support the other. U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) says these two items need to be separated and signed a letter to President Joe Biden that clearly states, “[t]hese are two separate and unrelated conflicts and it would be wrong to leverage support of aid to Israel in attempt to get additional aid for Ukraine across the finish line.”
2. U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) dropped out of the battle for Speaker of the House early Tuesday as the voting was set to start to select a Republican nominee in the race. Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) WAS the Republican nominee after multiple rounds of voting but he was instantly undercut by former President Donald Trump who claimed he never “respected the Trump endorsement” and that he didn’t spend enough time defending him.
1. So the Republican Speaker of the House nominee is … U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Republicans will try to get him over the finish line today.
