7. Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker was defended by two very important people in the Chiefs’ organization, head coach Andy Reid and star QB Patrick Mahomes. Both emphasized freedom of speech. Mahomes, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, stated, “What makes the locker room so cool is you’re able to have those discussions and become better and make those decisions for yourself.”
6. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has launched a defense of Amish communities and criticized New York’s alleged hostility toward religious liberty and emphasized that parental rights to religious upbringing and education should be protected. The amicus brief, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, claims New York’s actions violate the First Amendment by denying religious exemptions for vaccines, unlike most other states.

Years ago, Huntsville, Alabama was rated No. 1 on the list of the “The 25 Best Places to Live in the U.S.” in U.S. News & World Report rankings but the city has been plummeting down the list to No. 7 over the last few years, what a dump. Meanwhile, Montgomery joined Huntsville on another of the publication’s lists, “The 25 Best Affordable Places to Live in the U.S.,” with Montgomery ranked No. 7 and Huntsville a bit higher at No. 2.
4. A pig-headed motorist is still looking at jail time for refusing to apologize to a police officer for cursing at him, but now the national media is involved. Instead of apologizing for doing something stupid, people with nothing to lose in this case are egging Reginald Burks on, referring to him as a “father” and “Black,” and his attorney is promising a lawsuit over the matter.
3. As President Joe Biden is regularly citing overdraft fees and airline fees in his attempt to address the economic woes of normal people, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is raising an issue that actually affect people fast food inflation. Tuberville tweeted, “Bidenomics has turned the Dollar Menu into the Five-Dollar Menu,” and included a link to a image showing massive fast food inflation hitting consumers under his Biden’s watch, including a 200%+ increase on a McChicken at McDonald’s.
2. It did not take long for Attorney General Steve Marshall to call for local law enforcement to take down illegal gambling in their jurisdictions after the Alabama Legislature failed to pass new gambling legislation. Marshall said, “where we’re continuing to try to shut down those that are illegal. What we need to make sure is that local officials do their job when they find these illegal facilities,” but history indicates these local entities have no desire to do that job.
1. Unlike Alabama, Ohio will not let President Joe Biden on the ballot, where the state’s Electoral College votes matter very much, as Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose warned Democrats again. Despite weeks of warnings, the Ohio Democratic Party has not yet resolved an issue arising from the state’s requirement to certify presidential candidates at least 90 days before the election, clashing with the Democratic National Convention’s schedule.
