7. Wednesday saw the first day since the Oct. 7 attacks where Hamas did not launch a single rocket against the civilian population in Israel. That means it has taken weeks of consistent bombardment to provide that day of relative peace while the world screamed for Israel to stop fighting.
6. The Alabama Public Library Service is starting to compile a list of books that are being challenged, a move that State Rep. Susan DeBose (R-Hoover) calls a step in the right direction. Now groups from all sides of the issue want to see that list, which the APLS suggests is a safety issue. But candidate for Alabama Chief Supreme Court Justice and former State Senator. Bryan Taylor has agreed to represent those seeking access to that list, which should be publicly available.
5. A woman in Ohio left a miscarried fetus in a toilet, with parts also tossed in the backyard, and was charged with a crime for it. Because she is clearly an awful person, the media and their Democrats are rushing to her defense and suggesting her behavior is both normal, moral, and lawful.
4. “Porch pirates” are an evil scourge on society and one in four Americans have had a package stolen from their front porch, one Alabama lawmaker wants to make them pay. State Sen. April Weaver (R-Barfield) wants to put these animals in cages for up to 20 years, a pretty big sentence, “Alabama needs an anti-theft law with penalties strong enough to convince porch pirates that stealing a delivery is not worth the price they will have to pay behind bars.”
3. Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin is once again pretending he wants a bunch of Birmingham teachers to quit, he does not, and his pretend plan to prosecute parents of truants went nowhere. This is virtual signaling. If he wants real change in Birmingham schools, he would seek school choice, flexibility in hiring and firing, and he would follow up on his last grand pronouncement about schools.
2. The state of Alabama created a sales tax for online purchases in recent years, now one state legislator wants to raise it by almost 20%. The proposed increase from 8.5% to 9% by State Rep. Chris England (D-Tuscaloosa) is allegedly done to level the playing field between brick-and-mortar stores and online retailers.

The Colorado Supreme Court broke the dam when they declared they would attempt to bar former President Donald Trump from being on the ballot, now California is trying to bar Trump from the ballot and others might do it, too. California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis thinks this is an excellent idea and it’s about democracy, “is about honoring the rule of law in our country and protecting the fundamental pillars of our democracy” and “California must be on the right side of history.”
