7. While the media frames the removal of U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) from her office as a personal insult delivered during a funeral, the reality is much different, as usual. The offices that house Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) are actually to be given to the most recent leadership team, per the rules of the House.
6. President Joe Biden’s administration says we need to build the wall? DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said there is an “acute and immediate need” for a barrier at the southern border, as the same federal government is suing Texas for enacting their own barriers. Former President Donald Trump was right.
5. Everyone involved in the redrawing of Alabama’s congressional districts seems to admit that Republicans are not meant to win a race for Congress in the newly drawn Second District. ALGOP Chairman John Wahl lays this out best, saying, “It’s pretty clear from the wording that this is creating a district that allows black voters to have a candidate of their choice. Now that’s not saying a black candidate. It’s literally is kind of code word for creating two Democratic districts.”
4. The Biden administration continues its nonsensical war of words with U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) over the Pentagon’s illegal abortion policy. National Security Council Strategic Communications coordinator John Kirby says the policy is legal because it does not technically pay for abortions, just leave, travel, food, and housing for the abortion.
3. The silliness of the battle over libraries in Alabama continues with the false claim that a book written by Marie-Louise Gay was removed because her last name is “Gay,” Huntsville’s WAAY-TV checked and the book is still there. This is not going to end the way the radical left desires and now Gov. Kay Ivey is telling the Alabama Public Library Service that policy changes are needed and that she lacks confidence in them.
2. U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) will vote for former President Donald Trump for Speaker of the House to replace former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (D-Calif.), which is a job he seems unlikely to win or really want while facing civil cases, criminal cases, 91 felonies, and a primary leading presidential campaign. This is not serious; Moore also supports U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
1. Conservative hero U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has expressed his interest in the position of Speaker of the House, but that seems like a longshot with Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) the early favorite and others like Reps. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) are Kevin Hearn (R-Okla.) are in the mix too.
