7 Things: Impeachment season heating up; Alabama’s leaders call out Austin/Biden; and more …

7. In shocking news, the man who jumped into the Bass Pro Shop aquarium in Leeds was on drugs. Leeds Police Chief Paul Irwin lays it out pretty clearly about 42-year-old George Aaron Owens, “It is obvious from the behavior of (Owens) and his admissions that he had been taking drugs that we must continue to remind the public of the dangers associated with their use.”

6. Jefferson County Treasurer Eyrika Parker has been banned from the ballot after she did not turn in her ethics forms. Montgomery County Judge James Anderson told Parker that he would not rule her eligible unless she could show she attempted to access the online portal before the deadline; Parker could not do it. Oh yeah, her sole opponent is ineligible, as well, for the same reason and Mara Ruffin Allen’s attorney says they will continue to try to get her on the ballot.

5. Some interesting polling coming out of New Hampshire today. The CNN Poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire poll shows former President Donald Trump still leading at 39%, but former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley is trailing now by single digits at 32%. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has 12%, Vivek Ramaswamy is at 8%, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is surprisingly 5th with 5%.

4. When a three-judge panel redrew the Second Congressional District, the premise was that a black person would be elected to represent the black people in the region. Flipping the seat from Democrat to Republican, former University of Alabama and NFL defensive end Wallace Gilberry was thought to give Republicans a shot a send a black voice to Washington, but he has now dropped out. Explaining his reasoning, Gilberry said, “I have come to the decision that this race, at this time, is not the right place for me to help my community, so I will be stepping aside. But I am never going to quit on Alabama. Or on you. I will continue to serve our communities and be involved in any and every way I can to fight back against out-of-touch liberal politicians and too many bad policies that are hurting people and making life tougher every day.”

3. When then-acting-Marine Corps Commandant General Eric M. Smith suffered a cardiac arrest on Oct. 29, 2023, the irresponsible media and their brain-dead Democrats claimed it was because U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) was holding up military promotions. Oddly, the actual event was caused by a now-repaired bicuspid aortic valve and now the general will rehab and Gen. Christopher J. Mahoney will continue doing two jobs, therefore Gen. Eric M. Smith is trying to kill him, according to the now forgotten media logic.

2. The Biden administration’s ignorance on Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s hospitalization is causing problems for President Joe Biden’s most ardent defenders, even though there will be no resignation. Ranking Democrat of the House Armed Service Committee Adam Smith (D-Washington) is joining with U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) and harshly criticizing Austin and stating, “must provide these additional details on his health and the decision-making process that occurred in the past week as soon as possible.” U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) also made it clear that he believes the U.S. is “on the brink” of World War III and Biden’s team is showing they are not up to the job.

1. Impeachment season is heating up in the new year, as U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) updated the status of President Joe Biden’s impeachment with a post on Yellowhammer News laying out that Republicans in Congress “are just getting to the tip of the iceberg, and that’s why House Republicans are committed to exposing the Biden family for who they really are, and why President Biden should be impeached for failing to do his duty as President of the United States.” Meanwhile, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is having his impeachment “fast-tracked” for his failures at the border, and lies before Congress about it. Also Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is now facing calls for impeachment as well after all of his medical drama.
